Memories mix with heirlooms in Elberson home
When approaching the home of Ken and Arlene Elberson at 3740 West Nettle Creek Drive, “Home for the Holidays” Housewalk guests will be greeted by a pair of lighted reindeer appearing to graze lazily on the front lawn amid an extravaganza of multi-colored lights and lighted trees.
A canvas snowman hangs above the porch bench to provide a friendly welcome to family and friends.
Upon entering the Elberson home, antiques lovers will be delighted by the family heirlooms on display throughout the tastefully decorated residence.
The living room is home to an antique china cabinet that was made by Ken’s paternal grandfather, who cut down a tree in his yard to provide the wood, and then created the beautiful piece of furniture using only hand tools. The glass-fronted cabinet is the perfect spot to display antique dishes, tea pots, and a large cut glass sugar bowl.
A Victorian-era secretary displays an 1893 copy of Ben Hur that was given to Arlene’s maternal great-grandmother in 1899.
