It's raining sweet purple candy apples: Halloween with The Sweet Delights

On Friday, Cedars Lounge will be in for a mystical showcase with Youngstown's R&B outfit The Sweet Delights. To get into the Halloween spirit, the band will be covering Prince's masterpiece: the "Purple Rain" soundtrack.

Since 1999, keyboard master Sean Tress and vocalist Obie Savage have been molding The Sweet Delights into funky fruition. The Sweet Delights includes Justin Arroyo (also of User Sets Mode) on bass, George Lyras on guitar, Savage, Aspasia Lyras and Joe Stillson on vocals, Luke Lenz (also of Rocket Radio) on drums and Tress and David Woodard on keyboards.

Savage and Arroyo are veterans of Youngstown's acclaimed punk/funk scene during the mid-1990s; they played in the group Raul. Stillson was part of Youngstown's metal-hardcore crossover scene, and played in the bands Cobra Axis and Off The Rocker.

The Sweet Delights combine the New Orleans soul/garage punk sounds of King Khan and The Shrines with a late-1950s Stax-Volt Records R&B touch. In 1999, the

I'm sure you've heard the rumor that the e-mail is dead. So how do you invite people to your book signings? Believe it or not, the signature I had Saturday morning, I snail-mail some postcards ... not much, of course. But I also sent a notice to my fan page on Facebook, and my friends on my "normal" page on Facebook. Then I reported on LinkedIn. Tweeted on Twitter. You get the picture. Of course, I sent e-mails to those friends who have no network. (Yes, I have friends who do not spend 20 hours a day on the computer.In fact, I have friends who needed a postcard in the mailbox ...) Anyway, once you've invited the fans, you want to have a riot in the book store to attract the attention of browsers. Do not skimp on this. Go all out and make it fabulous! I lost track of how many compliments I received on Saturday Choices Meant for Gods and Choices Meant for Kings installation. I write fantasy, so I wanted everything to look immediately identifiable as "you can enter in a fantasy world here." No doubt about it.In antiquity, boxes of candy and romantic purple business cards and decorations, Olde World looking book stands to keep the magazine was published recently that one of my short stories and to keep the most recent release, the atmosphere was set. I used royal purple cloth to cover the risers as the stands were on the book, which stood out well against the shiny white cloth I put everything below. Of course, I had my banner Big Ol 'behind me and my purple feathers for signature.In the table Marci and me to this position, you see us goofing around, but you also see Marci pointing a magnet purple dragon I also had on the table like a nice little give-away for people who appreciated the humor. ..
